Case Study – Ambulance

All I want for Christmas is… an ambulance

Sister Vincent, from the St Vincent de Paul Mission Hospital in Muhoroni, has had something on her wish list for years.

Earlier this year, I spoke to her and asked “What would be the best gift you could wish for?” Her reply was immediate – an ambulance.

Witnessing first-hand the transport options available when a person is critically ill was truly shocking. Either balanced on the back of a motorbike, on rutted roads, or hours waiting for a private car – which would often arrive too late. The gift of an ambulance would save lives – no question about it.

And so our quest to fund the vehicle began. Following some very generous donations – a huge chunk of which came from Jamie Moralee at New Era Global Sport & Sisters of Mercy- we embarked on commissioning a new ambulance, fully equipped with Sister Vincent’s wish list of vital equipment.

We’re proud to announce that the ambulance was delivered to the hospital in November 2020. And it’s already making a big difference to the people of Muhoroni… The best present the community could wish for.
